Catching Celebi in Pokémon Crystal is only possible in a special way. In Japan, a promotional quest was released, written specifically for Celebi, in which you need to get a GS Ball from a Nintendo representative on the Internet. But later, Nintendo removed the online adapter so that the quest to capture the Pokémon Celebi became completely unavailable to players in the United States. Despite this, there is still a code in the game with which you can open this quest using GameShark or other similar programs.

Method 1 of 2: Catching Celebi with a GS Ball
Step 1. Use GameShark or other similar device
The only way to get Pokémon Celebi in Pokémon Crystal is to open a special quest. To do this, you need a code hidden in the game. GameShark can be purchased online.
- If GameShark is not available to you, you can use another code breaking program, such as Code Breaker or Game Genie. These devices are used by many users around the world.
- If you want to use an alternate GameShark device, remember that you could accidentally break your Pokedex. Therefore, it is best to catch Celebi in our way.
Step 2. Enter the code
First of all, launch the game through GameShark or another similar device, then enter the code into the game: 0173D2D0.
- After entering the code, go to Pokemart and buy one GS Ball.
- After you have purchased GS Ball, save and close the game.
Step 3. Enter the second code
Turn on the game through GameShark (or similar device) and enter the second code to open the quest: 914089DA.
- After you insert the code, go to Kurt, who lives in a house located northwest of the town of Azalea.
- Talk to him and he will take the GS Ball from you.
- Kurt will tell you that he will give up the ball the next day. Take the ball from him the next day.
Step 4. Catch Celebi
You now have a GS Ball. Go to the Ilex Forest following Kurt's advice. The forest is located in southern Johto, directly east of Azalea Town. Find a temple, a small building in the Ilex Forest, when you find it, approach it and place the GS Ball on it. Celebi will appear.
- Catch Celebi just like any other Pokemon: reduce his health or throw a Pokeball at him to catch him without having to reduce his health to half.
- Selebi, who appears near the temple, will be a level 30 Pokemon.
Method 2 of 2: How to Catch Celebi without GS Ball and Reload
Step 1. Paste this code: 91C089DA
You can use GameShark or other similar device. Talk to Kurt.
- Make sure Kurt is not checking your Pokeball before pasting in the code.
- Kurt will automatically give you a GS Ball, which you immediately use at the Ilex Forest Temple to catch Celebi.
- Note: You can use this code as many times as you like, but remember that using it will result in multiple reboots.
Step 2. Fix any errors after reboot
Every time you use this code, another reboot awaits you. At the Dragon Shrine, the GM will give you another Dratini for unknown reasons, but this can be fixed by talking to him again. Take Dratini and everything will return to its place again.
- Another mistake is the girl opposite Sudowoodo. She will be standing there as usual, you will have to talk to her again for her to leave.
- The man who told you that something strange is happening in the Underground Chamber will talk about it over and over again, as if for the first time. To do this, talk to him again so that everything will return to its place.
