This article will show you how to permanently close your Spotify account. Since the account cannot be deleted in the Spotify mobile app, you will have to do it on your computer. If you have a premium subscription, please cancel it first and only then close your account.
Steps
Part 1 of 2: Canceling a Premium Subscription
Step 1. Go to the Spotify website
Enter https://www.spotify.com/ into the address bar of your browser. If you sign in automatically, you will be taken to your personalized dashboard.
- Continue to the next step if you don't have a premium subscription.
- If your browser does not remember your credentials, click on "Log In" in the upper right corner of the page, enter your email address and password for your account, and click on "LOG IN."
- Premium subscriptions cannot be canceled on mobile Spotify.
Step 2. Click on Profile at the top right of the page
After that, a drop-down menu will appear on the screen.
Step 3. Click on Account in the drop down menu
This will open your Spotify account page.
Step 4. Click on the black MANAGE PLAN button under the Spotify Premium heading on the right side of the page
If this option is not available, click on the “Account” tab at the top left of the window to make sure you are on the correct page
Step 5. Click on the green CHANGE OR CANCEL button
Step 6. Click on the gray CANCEL PREMIUM button under the Change plans heading on the right side of the page
Step 7. Click on YES, CANCEL to cancel your premium subscription
After that, you can safely proceed to closing your account.
Part 2 of 2: Deleting a Spotify Account
Step 1. Go to the Spotify customer support page
Enter https://support.spotify.com/contact-spotify-support/ into the address bar of your browser. If you log in to your account automatically, you will be taken to the CONTACT SPOTIFY page.
If not, enter your email address (or username) and password and then click LOG IN
Step 2. Click on Account
This option is located under the heading "Please select a category" at the top of the page.
Step 3. Click on I want to close my Spotify account permanently in the middle of the page
Step 4. Click on the black CLOSE ACCOUNT button at the bottom left of the page
Step 5. Click on the blue CLOSE ACCOUNT button at the bottom right of the page
Step 6. Check your account
Take a look at the account name on the page to make sure it is the account you want to delete.
Step 7. Scroll down and click on CONTINUE at the bottom right of the page
Step 8. Check the box next to “I understand, and still want to close my account” at the bottom of the page
You may have to scroll down to see it.
Step 9. Click on CONTINUE in the lower right corner of the page to confirm your decision
Spotify will then send you an email.
Step 10. Open the email from Spotify
Log in to the email account you signed up with Spotify, then click on the Spotify email “Please confirm you want to close your Spotify account”.
If you signed up for Spotify through Facebook, open the mail with which you registered your Facebook account
Step 11. Click on the green CLOSE MY ACCOUNT button in the email
This is the final part of the uninstallation process. Thus, you confirm the deletion of your Spotify account.
Advice
- You can restore your Spotify account within 7 days of closing. To do this, open the “This is our last goodbye email” from Spotify and click on the “REACTIVATE MY ACCOUNT” link.
- Be sure to uninstall the Spotify app from your phone, tablet and / or computer afterwards.
