There are many mobile apps that allow you to set up your GoPro camera to your smartphone. But if you want to stream video to your Windows computer, use the VLC media player. Please be aware that additional software will need to be installed for newer GoPro models.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Cast from GoPro Hero2 (with Wi-Fi BacPac device) or Hero3 to VLC

Step 1. Turn on your GoPro Wi-Fi device
Your actions will depend on the camera model (Hero2 or Hero3).
- Hero2 - First, connect your camera to your Wi-Fi BacPac. To do this, press the Wi-Fi button on the BacPac; a menu will open where select "Phone and Tablet".
- Hero 3/3 + - On the GoPro, open the Settings menu using the Mode button. Now open your wireless settings and select “GoPro App”.

Step 2. Connect your computer to the GoPro
The GoPro will appear on your computer with a list of available wireless networks. Connect to the camera like a normal wireless network; to do this, enter the password "goprohero" (without quotes).

Step 3. Find out the URL of the GoPro broadcast
You will need it to send streaming video to VLC.
- In the address bar of your web browser, enter https://10.5.5.9:8080/live and press the Enter key.
- Click amba.m3u8.
- Copy the entire address that appears in the address bar; To do this, select the address and press Ctrl + C.

Step 4. Configure VLC media player
Launch VLC, open the Media menu and click Open URL. Paste the copied broadcast URL into the "Enter network address" line; to do this, press Ctrl + V.

Step 5. Watch the broadcast from the camera
Click Play to start playing the streaming video in VLC.
Method 2 of 3: Cast from GoPro Hero4 to VLC

Step 1. Buy, download and install the Camera Suite software
This can be done at camerauite.org.

Step 2. Create a new connection in GoPro
Open the camera settings and in the “Wireless” menu and select “GoPro App”. Now select "New" - a 6-digit pairing code will appear on the screen; it will be needed after a while.

Step 3. Connect the camera to your computer
To do this, select GoPro (password - goprohero) from the list of available wireless networks on your computer, and then launch CameraSuite. Click “Pair Camera”, enter the 6-digit pairing code and select “Pair Camera Now”.

Step 4. Run the video streamer
In the CameraSuite window, click on “Video Streamer” and select “Hero 4” from the list of camera models. Click Start to start streaming, and then click Copy Player URL into Clipboard.

Step 5. Configure VLC media player
Launch VLC, open the Media menu and click Open URL. Paste the copied URL into the "Enter network address" line; to do this, press Ctrl + V.

Step 6. Watch the broadcast from the camera
Click Play to start playing the streaming video in VLC.
Method 3 of 3: Stream from your GoPro to another media player or device

Step 1. Install another media player on your computer
If you know how to work with command line and Python scripts, use FFmpeg.

Step 2. Set up broadcast to your mobile device
Popular services such as Livestream, Periscope, and Meerkat offer mobile apps that let you quickly set up your GoPro to your smartphone stream.

Step 3. Use your computer webcam
You may find that an ordinary computer webcam will suit your needs.
